Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure meant to help eradicate spider veins, reticular veins, and varicose veins.
In addition to diminishing the appearance of varicose or spider veins, sclerotherapy can also reduce pain or side effects caused by damaged veins.
How is it done?
Sclerotherapy entails the administration of superficial injections to the epidermis using a sclerosing agent. The sclerosing agent that is injected destroys the endothelial lining of the vein, destroying the vein by forcing closure of the vein.
What should I expect?
Sclerotherapy destroys the non-functioning veins that you see (spider, reticular, or varicose) through multiple sessions. This does not mean that you will not develop new spider, reticular, or varicose veins in the future.
