At Soleil Laser Spa and Wellness, we offer both Botox and Dysport products to cater to individual preferences. You may wonder about the difference between the two. Both are injectable treatments derived from botulinum toxin, a neurotoxic protein safe for temporary impairment of facial muscles, which results in smoother skin and reduces the common signs of aging.
These injectables are considered non-invasive treatments and temporarily relax facial muscles to smooth out wrinkles. The main differences between Botox and Dysport are found in their trace proteins and the manufacturing process. Some people have reported quicker results with Dysport, seeing a reduction in wrinkles within 2-3 days, whereas Botox usually takes around a week to show its effects. Both products peak at around 2 weeks and last approximately 3-4 months, requiring maintenance treatments.
Botox has both medical and aesthetic purposes. The common areas that injectables treat include forehead wrinkles, frown lines (also known as the “11”), crow’s feet, bunny lines, tear troughs (under the eyes), brow lift, lip flip, and smoker's lines. Botox can also be used for medical purposes such as TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder) and teeth grinding or excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) in various areas, such as the forehead, palms of the hands, and underarms.
To avoid bruising after a Botox treatment, avoid consuming supplements, alcohol, or medications that can thin your blood, use topical Arnica, and avoid vigorous exercise for 24 hours after the treatment.
Dermal fillers, also known as soft tissue fillers, are non-surgical injectable treatments used to restore facial volume, create youthful facial contours, add volume to lips, and smooth out fine lines, wrinkles, and folds. The most popular dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a substance that naturally exists in the human body and lubricates soft connective tissues, the skin, the eyes, and certain joints. By increasing the skin's supply of Hyaluronic Acid, dermal fillers revitalize and add volume to the skin, smooth out wrinkles and lines, fill in hollowed-out areas, and impart a softer, more youthful appearance.
Dermal fillers fade gradually, and results last between 6 and 12 months for most clients. Results are instant but take approximately 48 hours to take full effect. After the injections, you may experience redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, and/or itching, which should clear up within 7 days (or 14 days for lips).
At Soleil Medical Spa, we commonly treat lip augmentation, chin, jawline, under the eyes, and offer the 5 Point Mini Face Lift.
Individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding or have neuromuscular disorders or botulinum toxin allergies should not have injectables. Similarly, individuals who are allergic to hyaluronic acid or pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid dermal fillers.
