Concerns of the face

Acne / pimples:

There are many underlying reasons for acne breakouts, but most pimples are caused by fluctuations in hormone levels. During puberty, the increase in androgens (male hormones) causes the adrenal glands to go into overdrive. This triggers the production of sebum within the sebaceous glands.

Brow drop:

Brow ptosis may also occur secondary to paralysis or weakness of the frontalis muscle.

Bunny lines:

Bunny lines are the fine wrinkles that appear when you scrunch up your nose, such as when you laugh or smile deeply. While bunny lines can simply be caused by aging and the overuse of certain facial muscles.

Clogged pores:

Clogged pores are the result of dead skin cells getting trapped in your skin instead of being shed into the environment. Pores are tiny openings in the skin that release oil and sweat. When pores are clogged, it can result in blackheads, whiteheads, and acne.

Crow’s feet:

Crow's feet are wrinkles etched in the corner of the eye. Some of the leading causes of crow's feet include sun exposure and the loss of collagen and elasticity that come with age.

Dark circles:

Sleep deprivation can cause your skin to become dull and pale, allowing for dark tissues and blood vessels beneath your skin to show. Lack of sleep can also cause fluid to build underneath your eyes, causing them to appear puffy. As a result, the dark circles you see may actually be shadows cast by your puffy eyelids

Enlarged pores:

Most often, genetics determine who will have large pores. Other causes for visibly large pores can be oily skin, since excess oil sits around the skin's pores, making them appear enlarged. Oily and unclean skin can also cause oils to settle around the pores, making them appear larger as the skin around them thickens.

Facial veins:

Environmental irritants: Exposure to certain chemicals or environmental pollutants may damage the skin and make blood vessels more visible.

Facial volume loss:

The primary causes are natural aging and genetics. As you age, you lose fat and bone mass in the face, while muscles begin to atrophy to some degree. Other factors that can cause facial volume loss are emotional stress, traumas, lifestyle factors, and certain medications that can accelerate the process.

Fines lines:

Caused by the natural breakdown of collagen and elastin in the skin plus years of exposure to the harmful UV rays from the sun, fine lines first tend to appear around the eyes and mouth in your thirties.

Forehead lines:

The main causes of forehead wrinkles are smoking, sun exposure and genetics. Wrinkles are defined as the creases and lines that form in your skin over time.

Freckles:

Freckles are genetically inherited. The formation of freckles is stimulated by exposure to sunlight. The exposure to UV-B radiation activates melanocytes to increase melanin production, which can cause freckles to become darker and more visible.

Frown lines:

Frown lines are primarily caused by aging. As you age, your skin loses elasticity and doesn’t easily return to its original shape.

Loose and sagging skin:

Sagging skin isn't the result of just one cause, however. There are several factors that contribute to the drooping of skin that was once taut, firm and supple. Of course, the most common cause for sagging skin is simply aging. As you age, your skin begins to lose its natural elastin and collagen.

Loss of firmness:

Skin becomes slack. The loss of the elastic tissue (elastin) in the skin with age causes the skin to hang loosely. Skin becomes more transparent. This is caused by thinning of the epidermis (surface layer of the skin).

Mouth frown:

Wrinkles around the mouth can be caused by a variety of factors including, age, gender, genetics, sun exposure, smoking.

Nasolabial folds:

Smiling can make nasolabial folds deeper. Other factors that play a role in skin aging include, smoking, exposure to environmental pollutants.

Pigmentation spots:

Hyperpigmentation is caused by an increase in melanin. Melanin is the natural pigment that gives our skin, hair and eyes their color. A number of factors can trigger an increase in melanin production, but the main ones are sun exposure, hormonal influences, age and skin injuries or inflammation.

Rosacea :

This is a common condition that causes the skin to become flushed and red due to enlarged veins. People with rosacea often experience spider veins.

Rough and bumpy skin:

The keratin forms a scaly plug that blocks the opening of the hair follicle. Usually many plugs form, causing patches of rough, bumpy skin ... But it may occur in association with genetic diseases or with other skin conditions, such as atopic dermatitis. Dry skin tends to worsen this condition.

Scarring:

Scars may also form as a result of skin trauma caused by acne or burns. Pitted acne scars, also called atrophic scars, may have a sunken appearance that makes the surface of the skin look pocked or uneven. An infection such as the chicken pox can also cause atrophic scars.

Skin blotchiness:

Also called broken capillaries, these are tiny blood vessels, located close to the surface of the skin, that get larger and more visible. The result is blotchiness and uneven skin tone and may be caused by over exfoliating or excessive sun exposure.

Skin redness:

From a sunburn to an allergic reaction, there are many things that can cause your skin to become red or irritated. It may be because extra blood rushes to the skin's surface to fight off irritants and encourage healing. Your skin can also become red from exertion, such as after a heart-pounding exercise session.

Sun damage:

Sun exposure causes most of the skin changes that we think of as a normal part of aging. Over time, the sun's ultraviolet (UV) light damages the fibers in the skin called elastin. When these fibers break down, the skin begins to sag, stretch, and lose its ability to go back into place after stretching. The skin also bruises and tears more easily -- taking longer to heal. So while sun damage to the skin may not be apparent when you are young, it will definitely show later in life

Tear trough deformity:

Tear trough occurs from an attachment of lower eyelid skin to subsurface facial bones.

Uneven pigmentation:

Uneven skin tone develop as a result of too much melanin being produced to help protect your skin from UV light. ... Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation: This is a darkening of the skin as a result of scarring, which can be caused by acne lesions or skin injury.

Thin/fragile looking skin:

Thin skin is skin that tears, bruises, or breaks easily. Thin skin is sometimes called thinning skin, or fragile skin. Thin skin is most often associated with aging. But it can also be caused by UV exposure, genetics, lifestyle, and the use of certain medications. As you age, your body produces less collagen. Collagen is the building block of skin that helps prevent wrinkles, sagging, and moisture loss. Your genetics may contribute to how much collagen you lose as you age. A majority of the noticeable damage to the dermis, like wrinkling, sagging, age spots, and thinning skin, is related to exposure to the sun. Sun damage develops over many years of sun exposure.

Vertical lip lines:

Vertical lip lines are caused by a number of factors, including aging, environmental stress, everyday facial expressions. A particular culprit of vertical lip lines: smoking. The repetitive motion of taking a drag from a cigarette, combined with the oxidative stress caused by smoke inhalation, can accelerate the development of fine lines around the lip area.

Visible dryness:

All the external causes of dry facial skin cause the natural lipid surface barrier to deteriorate. Once this lipid barrier is broken, moisture can evaporate and the vital moisture-binding substances are easily washed out. As these natural moisturizing factors are missing, the skin cannot hold as much water and becomes dry until they are replenished, and the lipid barrier on the surface is repaired.

Wrinkles:

As you age your body’s production of collagen decreases. This causes your skin to lose its elasticity which causes wrinkles. Apart from the natural aging process, these are the five major factors which cause wrinkles: sun exposure, smoking, poor nutrition, dehydrated skin, feeling stressed or tired.
